You only have two choices: Either you close your eyes to the madness and inequality that is going on around you, or you get up and do something about it. I opt for the second alternative. In that regard I want to use design to provoke, to push boundaries, to raise awareness, to evoke change. The branch of "cause-oriented" or activist design is an area where I see myself. Embellishing our surrounding, improving and sustaining the environment, fighting crime and animal abuse, helping the poor, fostering the derelict... whether through initiating actions or writing about it.
Other areas of interest include human psychology. Especially in the way it is used by media to manipulate whole cultures in the name of capitalism. Derived from living in several European countries, and encountering different cultures, I am fascinated by anthropology and the ideologies and myths planted in our heads, their workings and origin. Related to that, the question of the realness of reality springs up, leaving me to wonder what is left of our world if all these culturally inherited beliefs, roles, behaviours and values are striped off. How can we reclaim our autonomy as human beings and the truth about the world we live in?
Following me from my undergraduate studies in Communications, I maintain interest in Graphic Design, Illustration (especially Tattoo Art), Street Art and Conceptual Art.
