Sarah Snaith
I am a Canadian designer and writer living in London. Graduating with an first class honours degree in Design, I have a keen interest in the relationship between designed objects and the written word. Writing has allowed me to be critical of my process and to bring a theoretical understanding to the spectatorship of the professional design industry. I take to my thinking a former dance career. The qualities of movement, expression and performance can be unleashed in the form of writing; words can be imprinted onto our memories and performed through the viewer/creator relationship.
Design Writing Criticism inspires an informed critical voice, one that pushes the boundaries of design and develops the craft as a practice unto itself. It provides an environment encouraging depth of research, debate and reflection beyond what I could have imagined. For every question I answer, I have a multitude more to ask. This is the beauty of the subject, what fuels my daily desire to write and inspires a potential lifetime of learning.
