Ellen Zoete

I am born and raised in The Netherlands. Before coming to London for my Master degree I finished my bachelor degree in product design at Design Academy Eindhoven. My department the department Man & Wellbeing, which focuses on the personal experience of design, or the personal reasons for designing a product. All is focussed on life quality, and products influencing that. In these four years I developed my love for materials and the physical making. Since my graduation three years ago I have worked as a freelance graphic designer. Additionally I have come across organizational projects and assignments in styling and art direction.

When a friend came across an article about this new study Design Writing Criticism, it came just at the right moment. I had doubted whether solely practical work was what I wanted, and DWC seemed to combine the two. As I now know, the base of the teaching is theory, but structured on practical professions. As a student I am able to weave practical work in there wherever I can. I am able to update my knowledge about theories concerning design, and can concentrate on various areas of study within design that I am interested in.
