Why do the course?
Although very much immersed in the graphic design industry, the time I was dedicating to engaging with contemporary design debates within it was dwindling.
For various reasons I felt it my responsibility to get involved in such debates and hoped the course would allow me an arena to rigorously develop my writing skills, and potentially place me in a position to articulate my perspectives professionally.
What have I learnt so far?
There is no single, correct way to approach the writing process - what works for one person, may not work for another, but the most important thing to remember is to rigorously research everything I write about.
The course has helped build up my understanding of a variety of debates across many disciplines and to date, demonstrated the powerful role writing and language plays within it.
