Emily Higgins
I finished my degree in Graphic Arts only just beginning to realise the influence of design within society and culture. With good knowledge of how to effectively construct our visual language, it was time to understand the responsibility that comes with such a powerful tool.
The written word plays an important part in our design process, from the intimacy of idea generation within sketchbooks, to the professional relationships with colleagues and clients where clear articulation is an essential skill.
In the Design Writing Criticism course we have been exploring greater contexts and theories to critically engage with design. This understanding feeds directly into my practical work and I believe thoroughly enriches it.
